Our Teachers

UTK/TK/Kinder

We educate the whole child through integrated learning, tying together reading, writing, social studies, and science. Hands-on learning allows kindergartners to acquire the foundational skills they will need to have further success in school and in life. Kindergarteners learn to read, write, count and do basic addition and subtraction.

First Grade

Small-group instruction allows teachers to meet the needs of all students while teaching grade level standards. First graders work on reading fluency, writing multiple sentences, addition and subtraction fact fluency, and understanding numbers to 120. Students learn to work together and as independent learners.

Second Grade

Students become competent readers, writers, and mathematicians during their second grade year. They read for understanding, writing paragraphs, work with numbers to 1000, and solve word problems with double digit numbers. Second graders expand their knowledge of their world through what they learn.

Third Grade

In third grade, students are becoming independent critical thinkers. They apply academic vocabulary in oral and written work. They are developing research skills which will allow them to access information and synthesize it. In math, they problem solve using all four operations and are increasing their ability to explain their mathematical reasoning. The arts are integrated throughout the curriculum as a means to deepen student understanding of the world and perspectives around them.

Fourth Grade

Fourth graders engage in dynamic and interactive lessons and projects across the curriculum. Their writing showcases deeper analytical thinking, and research projects exemplify synthesis of information from multiple sources. As mathematical reasoning skills deepen, fourth grade students produce more detailed work that is presented to greater audiences. Students in fourth grade continue to actively participate in activities and projects that encompass dance, theater, music, and visual art forms.

Fifth Grade

Fifth graders continue their path to become college and career ready through project-based learning, collaborative grouping, and research projects. They work on deepening understanding and explaining relationships or interactions between two or more individuals, events, ideas, or concepts in a historical, scientific, or technical text based on specific information in the text. In math, fifth graders tackle multi-step, real-world problems that help them to build 21st century skills. Fifth grade students reflect their learning in written and oral forms and continue to express their viewpoints, knowledge, and passions through visual and performing art forms.
