Traffic Safety

Drop Off and Pick up:

Valet Safety Drop Off in the morning and Pick up after school safety guidelines:

Drop-off and pick-up children on the passenger side of the vehicle (next to the curb).
Do not pick-up or drop-off children on the opposite side of the street and cause children to jay walk, cross the street without adult supervision or walk between vehicles. Do not park in traffic lanes when picking up or dropping off children.
Follow all traffic lights, speed limit signs, crosswalk markings, and school crossing guards.

New afterschool student pick up gates:

UTK-TK students in room 1 & 2 are picked up through the Zelzah gate on the corner of Zelzah and Cantara.
Kinder students need to be picked up from the gate on Zelzah.
1st - 2nd grade needs to be picked up through the Main Office gate.
3rd - 5th grade students will be picked up on the Hesperia gate

Safety Practices/Practicas de seguridad

Avoid walking alone
Never take a ride with or walk with a stranger
If a stranger approaches or attempts to get the child into a vehicle, children should scream and run for help
Students should use precautionary measures, even while waiting inside of the school yard, until parents arrive
Parents and students should maintain good communication about pick-up/drop-off times and locations
Never walk in an isolated area or alley
Never walk with head phones on
See something, say something (always report any safety concerns to an adult immediately)

Evite caminar solo
Nunca tome un viaje o camine con un extraño
Si un extraño se acerca o intenta llevar al niño a un vehículo, los niños deben gritar y correr para pedir ayuda.
Los estudiantes deben usar medidas de precaución, incluso mientras esperan dentro del patio de la escuela, hasta que los padres lleguen

Los padres y los estudiantes deben mantener una buena comunicación sobre los horarios y lugares de recogida/entrega
Nunca camine en un área aislada o en un callejón
Nunca camine con los auriculares puestos
Ver algo, decir algo (siempre informe cualquier inquietud de seguridad a un adulto inmediatamente)

Immediately report anything that makes you feel unsafe or uncomfortable to the police and/or a school staff member.

Denuncie inmediatamente cualquier cosa que lo haga sentir inseguro o incómodo a la policía y/o a un miembro del personal de la escuela.

Rainy Day Schedule/Horario de días lluviosos:

Valet Program on Lorne Street is NOT operational at drop off on rainy days
UTK/TK/K- During rainy days the drop off and pick up remain the same gate on Zelzah.
1^st, 2^nd will be dismissed thru the same gate, the main gate on Cantara St.
Special Day Classes, 3^rd, 4^th, and 5^th grades are dismissed thru the auditorium door on Cantara St. ***************************

El servicio de Valet sobre la calle Lorne esta cerrado en dias lluviosos
UTK/TK/K: La entrega y recogida es por el porton usual sobre la calle Zelzah.
1º y 2º: La recogida es por el porton usual , la puerta principal sobre la calle Cantara.
Los salones de educación especial y 3º al 5º, todos los demás grados serán despedidos por la puerta del auditorio en Cantara St.
